Synopsis (English)
This film explores issues of remembrance and redress of past injustices inflicted to Irish women and children who were incarcerated and forced into labour in religious institutions. By the evocation of personal stories and modern-day political actions, the 7 activists and researchers featured in this film, bring to life a polyphonic narrative of affective memories –between historical record and pedagogical tool– trying to recognize the extent of discrimination in the Magdalene Laundries and the Mother and Baby Homes in Ireland.

Ce film explore le thème de la commémoration et de la réparation d’injustices historiques envers les femmes et les enfants irlandais enfermés et astreints au travail dans des établissements religieux. Par l’évocation d’histoires personnelles et d’actions politiques contemporaines, les 7 activistes et chercheures du film reconstruisent un récit polyphonique où les mémoires affectives –entre bilan historique et outil pédagogique– deviennent l’occasion de reconnaître l’étendue des discriminations dans les buanderies Madeleine et les Foyers pour mères et enfants en Irlande.
